Oregon Coast

We rented a beach house and headed to Lincoln City this last weekend with our friends Dallin and Amanda. It was perfect Oregon Coast weather and we enjoyed every minute of it!

First stop, Tillamook Cheese Factory

 for some yummy ice cream

On the way back to Lincoln City, we hiked to Munson Creek Falls

We only hung out on the beach for a little while the first day because it was pretty cloudy and windy.

The girls played in the sand before we headed back to the house.

Ryleigh thought it was pretty cool to have her name written in the sand.

Bailey was not so happy that she had to sit in the sand so I could take her picture with her name.

Dallin and Amanda's little girl turned 1 while we were there so we celebrated with yummy cake.

The next day we headed to Yaquina Head to check out the tide pools and light house.  It was a warm and sunny day!  Ryleigh was very upset that the light house was closed and that she couldn't climb to the top.  We didn't have the heart to tell her that even if it was open, she was too short to climb it anyway.  You had to be a certain height and you couldn't be carried.  All day she kept asking if the light house was open and if we could go back.
Before we left on our trip, Ryleigh was watching Dora and they had starfish on the episode.  I told her she would be able to see lots of starfish when we went to the beach.  Devin quickly responded with something along the line of there is no possible way she could see them.  He had never been to the Oregon Coast.  We saw TONS at the tide pools.

A sea lion rode the waves all the way to shore close to where we were standing.  We all thought that was pretty cool.  It was fun to watch him play around for a little while before he swam back to the other sea lions on the rocks.

Ryleigh wouldn't touch any of the sea life.  She just liked looking for it and pointing it out so I could touch it.

Devi wasn't too sure about touching the sea life either.

We headed to the beach after to enjoy the sun and did some kite flying.

The following day was just as sunny so Ryleigh braved getting into her swim suit to try out the ocean.  As you can see from this picture, she didn't get far into the ocean.  But she had fun running away from the water.

As we were packing up to go home, Ryleigh asked if we could take the beach house with us because she was sure that Lizzie would like it.  Devin told her it wouldn't fit in the car and she said we could push it home.  I think she had a great time.

On our way home we stopped to hike up to the bridge at Multnomah Falls.

Camping

We took a camping trip up near Ketchum, ID with our friends that moved to Pocatello.  Even though it rained a lot of the time we were there, we had a good time.

Ryleigh enjoying her chocolate milk

Bailey had fun playing with her frisbee.

Lizzie was not very friendly to the other dogs Maggie and Meesha.

Ryleigh had a great time with Peyton.

They played with these often.

We got to go on a hike before it got too wet out.

Of course, Bailey fell asleep like she usually does in the back pack.

We went up to Redfish Lake one afternoon and Lizzie had a blast running in the water.  She wouldn't swim because she wouldn't go where she couldn't touch.

Ryleigh wanted to put her swimsuit on but the water was WAY too cold to swim.

Bailey was ok with staying in warm clothes.

But she did get her dad to take her to touch the water.

On the way back to camp we stopped at a little restaurant and ice cream parlor and they had this fun chess game out back.

Thanks Morgan and Robert for a fun time.  Can't wait for next year!

Last minute trip

We were planning on making a trip to Utah this summer for a Real Salt Lake soccer game.  We looked at the calendar last weekend and realized that we only had one free weekend left before I went back to work.  So we headed to Utah this weekend.
Ryleigh had fun playing with her cousins
We went to the little zoo in Logan

 Then Saturday was game time!

Look at these cute girls!  They get along really well.

Devin celebrating after the hat trick

Ryleigh had a blast!

When we got off the shuttle bus after the game, Ryleigh said, "We come back tomorrow and I ride the bus and wear my jersey?"

4th of July

We started the day at the 4th of July parade.

Swim Lessons

Ryleigh took swim lessons for the first time this summer.  She did really well the first day.  The second day was really cold so she sat on the stairs most of the time.  The third day she thought she could sit on the stairs the whole time because she did the day before.  I had to bribe her to get in.  It didn't help that the other little girl in her class refused to get in ever.  So she sat on the stairs the majority of the time and when she was in the water, she was crying.  The fourth and fifth days were fine.

The second week consisted of life jacket day which she freaked out about before she even had the life jacket on.  I forced her into it all the while, she was screaming her head off.  After she got in the deep end for a little bit I got her out and she watched from the deck the rest of class.  Several of the mothers told me not to worry, they had been there before and that it will get better.

The following day was safety day so they just watched a movie.  Then there was diving board day.  Again, she sat on the deck and watched.  She wouldn't even go near it.  Then next day was a normal day and the last day was a free day.

As long as Ryleigh didn't have to get out of the pool for something that they wanted her to do, she was fine.  Hopefully next year will go better.

The first little bit of class each day was spent walking back and forth in the pool being different animals.  This was them being giraffes.

She loved to wave to let me know she was being a big girl.
